O God Our Help
This is my retuning of Isaac Watts' O God Our Help in Ages Past. Watts based his text on Psalm 90, so in adding a new chorus, I looked to the text of the Psalm.
Lord, let your beauty rest on us,
And satisfy us with your love.
Lord, make us glad, our souls renew,
And fix our dwelling place in you.
Feel free to use this arrangement in your church. Shoot me an email if you do; I'd love to know how it goes!
Christ is Coming
I stumbled across this text by John R. MacDuff while searching for hymns that reference Romans 8: 22-25.
We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time. Not only so, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption to sonship, the redemption of our bodies. For in this hope we were saved. But hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what they already have? But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently.
This retuning is most suitable for Advent. The tune is fairly simple, and hopefully easy for congregants to learn quickly.
